I Just Called to Say I Love You, Artspace, Raleigh, NC, 2015

Created as part of the Artspace PNC Pop-In Artist-in-Residence program, this piece was constructed in collaboration with a revolving group of over 40 local artists, elementary school students, and community members. Based on Botticelli’s Primavera (1482), the characters morph from the original painting into a haunted wintery version filled with ghosts and ghouls, then finally into an array of glittering celebrities. Teen interns from Artspace (David Rios, Luis Rios and Carla Moreno) acted as the main facilitators for this large-scale collaboration.

Curated by Annah Lee, Director of Artistic Programs, Artspace
